The Swallowtail (Papilio Machaon) is the largest species of butterfly found in the UK. It is also one of the rarest residing only in the fens of the Norfolk Broads. Much of the butterfly’s habitat was lost, largely due to the lack of fenland maintenance after WWII but with today’s conservation the future for the swallowtail looks brighter.
